Smocked Heart

 

Supplies needed:

45" x 5" fabric
Ribbon - lace ect.
Potporri and stuffing.

1. Cut a strip of fabric 221/2" x 5" and pleat 11 rows, across the whole 22 1/2" width. Pull up threads and tie off so piece measures 4".

2. Find and mark the center two pleats.

 

3. With a washable marker, trace heart pattern on the pleated piece. Smock using pattern of your choice.

 

4. When smocking is complete, stitch 1/4" outside of heart shape, twice. Lay a piece of backing fabric cut 5x6" and lay on the wrong side of the smocked heart piece. Stitch around piece using stitching as your guide.Leaving a place open for stuffing.

5. Cut out the heart shape, trim seams and clip curves, turn right side out.

 

6. Now, stuff with a little batting and some potpourri, sew up opening.

 

7. Sew on any trim you might like, some lace and ribbon, ribbon roses, pearls ect.

 

8. Sew on a ribbon for hanging.
