Continuous Placket (Selvage Kind) How To

Step One. Cut a placket strip along the selvage about 7 1/2" long and 3/4" wide.

Step Two: Cut a 3" slit in the center back of skirt.

Step Three: Place right side of cut edge of strip to the right side of skirt opening. Stitch from the wrong side, skirt on top, placket on bottom.

Step Four: Stitch using 1/4" seam (the width of your pressure foot). The placket will be straight, the skirt will form a V. As you stitch the 1/4" seam, you will just catch the tip of the bottom point of the placket slit.

Step Five: Press seam toward selvage edge of placket strip.

Step Six: Now turn the selvage edge (which is finished) to the inside, whip stitch by hand.
